On April 28, GIMUR collaborated with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome through a conference devoted to the prevention of injuries and neuromotor disorders. The activity formed part of the institute’s ongoing commitment to connecting advanced musical training with research-based perspectives on performers’ health and professional wellbeing.
The conference addressed issues of particular relevance to professional musicians, bringing attention to the physical and neuromotor challenges that can affect performance and long-term artistic development. In this context, the event created a space for reflection on prevention, awareness, and the need for informed approaches to health within demanding musical environments.
This collaboration also placed GIMUR in dialogue with one of Italy’s most historic and internationally recognized musical institutions. The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, officially founded in 1585, describes itself as one of the oldest musical institutions in the world, and its orchestra as the first in Italy devoted exclusively to the symphonic repertoire.
Through this conference, GIMUR continued to expand its academic and professional presence in international settings while reinforcing the relevance of its work in fields that connect performance, pedagogy, health, and specialized musical training.
