GIMUR Strengthens International Collaboration During Visit to the University of Texas at Austin

On March 8, 2024, the Global Institute for Music Research (GIMUR) carried out an academic visit to the University of Texas at Austin, reinforcing its commitment to international collaboration and the development of applied music research.

During the visit, the institute’s director, Dr. Jordi Albert, delivered an informational talk to a group of students, presenting GIMUR’s model as an international network for music research. The session highlighted its resources, research areas, and opportunities for emerging researchers.

In addition, several specialized workshops were conducted in the field of musicians’ health and injury prevention—one of the institute’s key research areas. These sessions provided practical tools and research-based approaches aimed at improving performers’ wellbeing and long-term performance.

The visit also included meetings with faculty members to explore potential avenues for academic and research collaboration. Discussions focused on the development of joint projects, educational activities, and the expansion of international research networks.

At the same time, progress was made in strengthening collaboration with the International Trumpet Research Journal, in alignment with GIMUR’s editorial strategy, which promotes high-quality, open-access scientific publications for the global research community .

This visit is part of GIMUR’s broader mission to connect researchers, foster new initiatives, and support global collaboration in music research .
