GIMUR Launches the International Congress on Applied Music Research and Transformative Experiences

GIMUR has announced the launch of the International Congress on Applied Music Research and Transformative Experiences, a new academic event to be held online on October 29 and 30, 2026. Conceived as an international forum for exchange and reflection, the congress will bring together research, pedagogy, health, technology, and artistic practice in a shared space dedicated to applied music research.

The congress is presented as a meeting point for work developed in real educational and artistic contexts, including conservatories, music schools, universities, community and rural settings, pedagogical projects, and emerging technological environments. Its broader aim is to promote international dialogue around the relationship between musical thinking, artistic practice, education, innovation, health, and society.

The academic structure reflects that ambition. The program includes four discussion panels with twelve specialists, six presentation sessions, two keynote talks, two online workshops, and space for a total of sixty participants. The thematic areas range from music pedagogy and curriculum design to applied musicology, artificial intelligence, neuromotricity, ethics in artistic research, entrepreneurship, and educational experiences in rural and community contexts.

The congress will be directed by Ana M. Vernia-Carrasco and Jordi Albert Gargallo, with an organizing committee and scientific committee made up of scholars and professionals from institutions in Spain, Mexico, Austria, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Cyprus, Finland, and the United States. The event also involves AEMCA and Aula de Investigación Musical “Francisco Vernia”, further reinforcing the collaborative network surrounding the project and its connection to broader initiatives in music, education, and health. In this way, the congress strengthens GIMUR’s international academic profile while expanding the institutional framework that supports its development.

Participation will be free for GIMUR members, while non-members may register either as attendees or presenters. Among the announced benefits are official certificates, digital proceedings containing all abstracts, access to recordings, and the possibility of further publication in collaborating academic journals.
