GIMUR Works with the Orchestra of the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari on a High-Performance Development Project

In June 2025, GIMUR began working with the Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari on a project aimed at improving high-level orchestral performance through a global and interdisciplinary approach. The initiative was conceived not only in terms of technical development, but also as a broader process involving health, prevention, and other key dimensions of professional musical practice.

The project is based on the idea that orchestral excellence cannot be understood solely through artistic results. It also depends on physical and mental wellbeing, technical balance, long-term sustainability, and the capacity to prevent difficulties before they become more serious problems. From that perspective, the work seeks to address performance at its highest level while taking into account the full complexity of the musician’s professional reality.

Different professionals will be involved in the project, reflecting the need for a multidimensional model of support for orchestral musicians. By bringing together complementary areas of expertise, the initiative aims to strengthen performance, encourage prevention, and contribute to a more integrated understanding of artistic development in demanding professional contexts.

Through this collaboration, GIMUR continues to expand its work in advanced musical environments while reinforcing its commitment to research-informed approaches that connect performance, health, pedagogy, and professional wellbeing. The partnership also places the institute in dialogue with one of Italy’s most historic musical institutions, the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli, based in Bari.
