On March 22 and 23, 2022, the Global Institute for Music Research (GIMUR) made its second institutional visit to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, deepening its connection with one of Europe’s leading institutions for higher music education and reinforcing its international academic profile.
During the visit, Dr. Jordi Albert delivered the lecture The Theory of Expert Motor Performance (EMP) and Their Applications to the Understanding of Expert Performance and Learning Difficulties. His presentation focused on subjects closely aligned with GIMUR’s research priorities, especially musicians’ health, learning difficulties, and the study of expert performance in advanced instrumental training.
The sessions brought together faculty from the brass department and conservatory students, with a total of 60 attendees. For GIMUR, the visit offered a valuable chance to present its research perspective in an international academic setting, engage directly with a specialized audience, and underline the relevance of its work at the intersection of performance, pedagogy, and health.
This second visit also helped expand GIMUR’s visibility within major European conservatory circles while creating further opportunities for academic exchange and future collaboration. More broadly, the activity formed part of GIMUR’s ongoing institutional strategy to strengthen international partnerships and advance its research agenda through sustained engagement with leading music institutions.
