The Global Institute for Music Research takes on responsibility for the development of the curricular design for the primary schools involved in the Crecer con Arte project, as part of an agreement with the Centro de Investigación para el Aprendizaje Integrado de Artes y Contenidos, based in Mérida, Yucatán.
Launched in the context of the pandemic, the collaboration was conceived as a way of offering students a stronger and more academically grounded educational proposal while they remained at home with their families. In this setting, the project sought not only to respond to an immediate educational challenge, but also to rethink the home as a space for learning, creativity, and shared experience.
The proposal focused on the development of activities for a range of academic contents, always approached through the arts. At the same time, it placed special emphasis on the family environment, encouraging meaningful shared time through painting, dancing, playing, and other creative forms of interaction while educational contents were being learned.
The program was scheduled to begin in May 2020 and to continue for as long as children remained at home. Through this initiative, the institute contributed to an educational model that aimed to combine academic depth, artistic experience, and family participation during an especially challenging moment.
